I have an old, old baldor powered 7" industrial grinder, probably ~ 1960 vintage, that is up to speed almost instantly. I use it for general use in my shop. I ended up with a cheap wen 8" slow speed grinder. The original wheels were crap, one replaced by wen. I now have a 46 and 80 gr norton wheels on it.
